Christ has been taken down from the cross and is about to be entombed by several of his disciples. One disciple is at his feet while two are holding his arm and upper body. The disciple holding the arm is wiping away a tear from his eye. Behind the disciples, there are several people with expressions of sadness and despration on their faces. In the background of the people, there is a city on a hill which represents Jerusalem. There are also three crosses on the top of a second hill (the hill of Calvary), where they are being disassembled by men.
