The figure of a woman saint occupies the majority of this vertical composition. She is depicted from the knees up, and faces slightly to the left, with her chin tucked and gaze downward. She wears a dress, tight-fitting at the bodice and loosely fitted from the waist down. She also wears a cape around her shoulders, with round fastenings which rest on her sternum. Her long, wavy hair appears loosely tied back, but flows behind her shoulders. She wears a crown with clover leaf-like forms, and the blank page behind her shoulders and head forms a halo from the cross-hatched background. In her right hand she holds a book, and in her left, a sword. Her left elbow, enveloped in a the dramatic folds of the fabric of her cape, rests on the rim of a wheel, only a quarter of which is included within the frame, with spokes reaching center at the lower right corner.
