A male figure, Samson, lays with his head in her lap. He appears to struggle or writhe, indicated by an uncomfortable looking position: back arched with hands and feet tensed. Delilah is cutting his hair with a long pair of scissors. Samson wears decorated armor, and his shield and axe lay on the ground beside him, at the lower right corner. Behind them, Philistine soldiers creep out of a rocky landscape, and hide behind trees. They hold swords and spears, and are dressed in armor.
