An off-white lidded porcelain bowl with two looped handles. The bowl is curved and slightly flared and topped with a domed lid. The handles are on each side of the bowl and are formed by two thin intertwined pieces painted with lines of gold. The handle on the lid is a sculptural element of an arched branch with two gold flower buds and green leaves. Both the bowl and lid are decorated with polychrome floral sprays. Featured at the center front of the lid is a painted floral arrangement with a pink rose at center surrounded by green leaves, blue, purple, and orange-yellow flowers. This image is repeated on the bowl and is surrounded by several other smaller floral sprays. The rim of the bowl and lid are covered by a scalloped gilt band bordered by a blue band with gilt cross-strokes in pairs spaced equidistantly. A similar band encircles the foot of the bowl.

This is a écuelle. It was probably Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1766 and we acquired it in 1906. Its medium is porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
