Lettered in plate, lower center: St. GERMAIN EN LAYE, a 4 lieües de Paris sur la Seine fut commence par Charles 5e et depuis sur ses fondements François 1r en poursuivit l’entiere execution, a laquelle il se donna/ la penne de veiller. Et quoy qu’il sont de figure irreguliere les degagements le rendent fort commode. Il est entouré d’un fossé et d’un corridor qui regne alentour; et ce qui est de plus con=/siderable est la terrasse qui a jours recouvers sur une voute. le Roy la fait augmenter de 4. Pavillons aux 4 coins sur le dessein du Sr. Mansard. Ces faces regardet.le Château neuf et la cour des Cuisines.
