Decagonal Slop Bowl, from the Royal Collections of Saxony, Japanese Palace, Dresden Bowl

This is a bowl. It was manufactured by Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1729–1731 and we acquired it in 1923. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Eleanor Garnier Hewitt and Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 10.1 × 24.1 cm (4 in. × 9 1/2 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] double crossed swords, painted in underglaze blue (Meissen Porcelain Manufactory mark) [2] "N=z54" or "N=254" above "w", incised (Japanese Palace collection inventory number) [3] "36 / 54", painted overglaze [4] cursive "W" above "f" and "5", painted overglaze [5] "x", incised in the rim of the foot (Johann Daniel Rehschuh's mark)
