Chasuble (Italy)

This is a Chasuble. It is dated 17th century and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is silk, metallic trim, linen lining and its technique is cut and uncut supplementary warp pile (velvet) in a satin foundation, plain woven lining. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Eleanor Garnier Hewitt and Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt, from the textile collection of Mrs. Abram Stevens Hewitt.
