Sugar Tongs (USA)

This is a Sugar tongs. It was made by Andrew Demilt. It is dated ca. 1805 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Sarah Cooper Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 16.8 x 6.8 x 1.8 cm (6 5/8 x 2 11/16 x 11/16 in.)

It has the following markings

"DEMILT" in rectangular reserve on inside of one side

It is inscribed

Engraved with initials "HMJ" (script) in oval patera at bowed end.
