Pleated Fan (France)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1750–1780 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is linen leaf painted with gouache and embroidered with metallic yarns in chain stitch and sequins; carved, incised and pierced ivory sticks with applied metallic foil. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Bequest of Sarah Cooper Hewitt.
