Cup and Saucer Cup And Saucer

This is a Cup and saucer. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1846–1867 and we acquired it in 1936. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

The large Sevres table service to which this cup and saucer belong was commissioned by King Louis Philippe for use at the Chateau of Fontainebleau. Begun in 1845, the service continued to be produced for many years, in order to add new items and to replace broken pieces. It remained popular throughout the nineteenth century and copies abound.
