Drawing, Design for a Chair

This is a Drawing. It was possibly by Pierre-Antoine Leboux de La Mésangère and workshop of Jean Démosthène Dugourc. It is dated 1790 and we acquired it in 1920. Its medium is brush and watercolor, grey wash, pen and black ink on white laid paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Advisory Council. It is credited Purchased for the Museum by the Advisory Council.

Its dimensions are

13.7 x 11.3 cm (5 3/8 x 4 7/16 in.)

It is inscribed

Inscribed in black ink, lower right: N [encircled]; in Lugt supplement, 1953 b, "N" (encircled) probably originates from the time of the French Revolution. Usually in black ink on verso but in this case mark appears on recto.
