Late-19th-century American consumers were obsessed with advertising—colorful trade cards, cigarette cards, and other prints became highly collectible objects. These advertisements present three brightly colored visions of the pleasures of social drinking, portraying elegantly dressed ballet dancers, happy gnomes, and refined Victorian women.
