Barometer (France)

This is a Barometer. It was made by Henry Lepaute. It is dated late 19th century and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is brass, metal, glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Arthur Wiesenberger and Arthur Wiesenberger. It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiesenberger.

Set of kitchenware utensils in the form of uniquely shaped measuring cups and marked bowls, securely fixed on two flat storage wooden boards. In the back is a set of square bowls, each marked with gray hollow circles. Bowls are marked with 1, 2 and 3 of the circles from left to right. The flat wooden storage board have dents matching the bottom of the cups, securing the cups when stored. In front of the square bowls is a set of measuring cups. The cups take different shapes and colors with easy to grip handles. From left to right: a red pentagon measuring 1 cup, yellow square measuring 1/2 cup, light green triangle measuring 1/3 cup, and a dark teal circle measuring 1/4 cup. The kitchenware are all made of plastic and each of the storage boards have the word “match” printed on the lower-left.
