Mottled dark brown tortoiseshell casket with engraved designs and silver mounts. Engraved on the front side, two stylized birds with spread wings perch on branches, holding leafy sprigs in their beaks. Their heads are turned out toward the ends of the casket. They are surrounded by an engraved curlicue border at the edges of the front side. This same design is repeated on the curved lid of the casket. The engravings are done in simple, clean lines. At the center of the front side, a silver key plate in the form of a two-headed eagle. Silver foliage scrollwork plates decorate the edges and corners of the casket and lid. Centered at the top of the lid, a silver scrollwork loop handle; at the bottom of the casket, silver ball feet.
