Table (France)

This is a table. It was designed by Jean Dunand. It is dated ca. 1930 and we acquired it in 1969. Its medium is wood, coquille d'oeuf (crushed eggshell), lacquer. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Painted plywood maquette, or a preliminary sketch, depicting a stylized forest scene with arched, rolling hills, jagged, leafy trees and a lone deer standing erect and looking upward. The overall color palette includes shades of grey and silver, charcoal accents, white highlights, and beige with acid-green accents on the animal. The elements in the scene are overlapping, with the deer centered horizontally and slightly toward the right side of the panel.
