Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Elisabeth Pecker, American. It is dated 1750 and we acquired it in 1970. Its medium is silk, metal-wrapped silk, and hair embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem, satin, surface satin, cross, running, eyelet and couched stitches with appliqué on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Emily Coe Stowell. It is credited Bequest of Emily Coe Stowell from the Coe Collection.
