Fragment (France)

This is a Fragment. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is plain weave foundation. block print for two reds. yellow applied by block or brush. resist paste used over areas which were to remain red, yellow and white. then the fabric immersion dyed in indigo. It is a part of the Textiles department.
