Sampler (England)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Elizabeth Groome. It is dated 1667–78 and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is silk, wool, mica and metallic embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem, satin, cross, bouillon, couching, and padded couching stitches on plain weave foundation; counted and uncounted stitches. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Rosalie Coe. It is credited Bequest of Rosalie Coe, from the collection inherited from her mother, Eva Johnston Coe.

H x W: 33 x 33 cm (13 x 13 in.)
