Bedcover (USA), 1805–15

This is a Bedcover. It was made by Olive Stafford. It is dated 1805–15 and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is linen warp, cotton weft and its technique is 1/2 twill embroidered with the following stitches – satin, stem, daisey, herringbone, overcast loops, and french knots; cotton fringe of two-strand countered twining (two sets) with long weft loops on one side. It is a part of the Textiles department.

H x W: 234.5 x 238.5 cm (7 ft. 8 5/16 in. x 7 ft. 9 7/8 in.)
