The third line repeats the first is right side up The fourth and final row on top is upside down and repeats the second line. There is a fine string mesh on the back of the paper holding the stencil together

Stencil, Stylized Iris Pattern

This is a Stencil. It is dated late 19th–early 20th century and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is mulberry paper (kozo washi) treated with fermented persimmon tannin (kakishibu). It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
