Hanging, Water

This is a Hanging. It was designed by Lydia Bush-Brown. It is dated 1926–59 and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is silk and its technique is wax resist (batik) on crepe (crepe created using 2 and 2 alternation of s and z overtwist of wefts); lined with damasse (plain weave and 1/3 twill). It is a part of the Textiles department.
