Tureen Tureen

This is a tureen. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory and Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory and painted by Pierre-Joseph Rosset (l'aîné). It is dated 1769 and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is soft paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Charles E. Sampson Memorial Fund.

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] interlaced LLs enclosing "q", painted in blue overglaze (manufactory and date mark) [2] triangular flag on elongated pole (?), painted in blue overglaze (painter's mark) [2] circle crossed with extended line, incised [3] circle, incised (?)
