Brooch in the form of a pansy Brooch/pendant
This is a Brooch/pendant. It was made by Tiffany and Co.. It is dated ca. 1900 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is cast gold, fired enamel, cut diamonds. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Tiffany and Co.’s jewelry production began with Charles Louis Tiffany, a New York goldsmith and jeweler who, in 1848, set up a workshop for making jewelry with his firm, then known as Tiffany, Young, and Ellis. In 1853, Tiffany took over full control of the firm and continued to produce luxury jewelry, such as this brooch in the form of a pansy. The petals are colored with different enamel finishes, creating a multidimensional, naturalistic flower accessory.
