"In This You'll Find a Match" Matchsafe

This is a matchsafe. It is dated ca. 1890 and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is cast and engraved silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener. It is credited Gift of Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener.

Its dimensions are

7.8 x 3.7 x 3 cm (3 1/16 x 1 7/16 x 1 3/16 in. )

It has the following markings

"STERLING" stamped on outside, just below and slightly to the side of smallest or pinkie finger. "STERLING" also stamped on bezel.
