Cover (India)

This is a Cover. It is dated 20th century and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is cotton and its technique is appliqué. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Faïe J. Joyce. It is credited Gift of Faie J. Joyce.

In this photograph we have a shot of an exhibition installation. It is a wall with three windows, a large window in an alcove and two smaller windows on either side. The windows have the same textile scrim installed over the glass, casting warm color and hue across the whole room. The scrim includes an alternating oval and rectangle pattern, with polka dots in different colors separating the larger shapes. Inside the ovals and rectangles are diagonal dashed lines along the shape's outlines. The central window's alcove has an arch above, and the wallpaper above the windows is a repeated red and yellow ornament pattern. Warm wooden walls and beams surround the windows and alcove, and there is a large table with textile samples in front. There is a shadowbox installed in the alcove and standing exhibit panel to the left.
