Valance

This is a Valance. It is dated early 17th century and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is silk, metal wrapped silk on linen and its technique is couching, long armed cross, cross, double running, stem, and satin stitches on a plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
