Sidewall (USA)
This is a sidewall. It was manufactured by Maxwell & Co., S.A.. It is dated 1905–1915 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is machine-printed paper, liquid mica. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
Landscape views have been popular on wallpaper from the eighteenth century to the present. This wallpaper was part of a matched set of sidewall, border and ceiling paper which simplified the buying process for consumers, who then only had to select a color and style. This inexpensive paper given a little luster by printing some of elements, including the clouds, mountain tops and trellis pattern, with a mica pigment.
