"A [Match] For You At Any Time" Matchsafe

This is a matchsafe. It was manufactured by Sampson Mordan & Company. It is dated 1886–87 and we acquired it in 1982. Its medium is silver, enamel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener. It is credited Gift of Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener.

It has the following markings

S.M, lion passant, London town mark, date letter "L", duty mark, all stamped on bezel. S.M , lion passant, date letter "L", stamped on underside of lid.
