Wall Pocket

This is a Wall pocket. It is dated late 17th–early 18th century and we acquired it in 1950. Its medium is silk, metallic thread, metal paillettes, gilt wire and its technique is embroidered on plain weave; appliqué of padded silk satin stich and couching on natural linen plain weave; couched gold-wrapped silk and gilt wire plus attached coils of gilt wire and spangles. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Gift of Richard C. Greenleaf Esq. in memory of his mother, Adeline Emma Greenleaf.
