Border Fragment

This is a Border fragment. It is dated 16th century and we acquired it in 1949. Its medium is linen, silk, metal-wrapped silk and its technique is silk embroidery using back and montenegrin cross stitch; metal thread embroidery using chain, detached buttonhole or looping (sometimes padded), satin, overcast loops, and whipped stem stitches on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Anonymous Donor.
