This is a Print. It was designed by Jan van der Straet, called Stradanus and print maker: Jan Sadeler, the Elder and made for (as the client) Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and Catherine Michelle of Spain, Duchess of Savoy. It is dated 1597 and we acquired it in 1949. Its medium is engraving on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Frederick Formes Horter.

It is inscribed

'Joa. Stradano figuravit. Joa. Sadeler scalpsit et excudit.' Lettered below the image: Latin inscription arranged in three columns, 'Nec minus...grando cadat.'
