She stands out against the other figures as her clothes appear black, through dense cross-hatched lines, whilst the other figures are rendered largely in outline, with small amounts of cross-hatching indicating shadow. In the top right corner there is a large amount of cross-hatching, perhaps suggesting that the room is dark, lit only by the fire of the cooker.
