Pleated Fan

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1952. Its medium is parchment leaf painted in gouache, carved and pierced mother-of-pearl sticks overlaid with gold and silver foil, rivet set with a faceted stone. It is a part of the Textiles department.
