Band (Italy)

This is a Band. It is dated 16th–17th century and we acquired it in 1956. Its medium is linen silk, metal-wrapped silk, wire and its technique is split (stem) and satin stitch embroidery using silk, satin and stem stitches using metal-wrapped silk, couched single, paired and plied metal-wrapped silk, round and square wire coils on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
