Spoon (Russia)

This is a spoon. It was made by "P. Ya". It is dated 1844 and we acquired it in 1958. Its medium is silver, niello, gilt. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. A. Murray Young. It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Mrs. A. Murray Young.

Its dimensions are

L x W x D: 18.5 x 5.5 x 3.3 cm (7 5/16 x 2 3/16 x 1 5/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On reverse of stem: two Russian letters, "B.G? over 1844?" possibly for Viatka, "84" for silver fineness, and a symbol representing Vologda above "1844".
