A tan, vertically rectangular cloth. The bottom right corner is curved, rather than straight. In the middle, a large, teardrop-shaped is embroidered. Its borders are red with floral patterns on the inside, with blue, green, and salmon-colored floral shapes. On the right side, a small row of embroidered, floral patterns with blue, green, and red colors. Elsewhere on the cloth are penciled-in, floral shapes that have not been embroidered.

Couture Embroidery Sample (USA)

This is a Couture embroidery sample. It was made by Madame Sabo, Inc. (New York, NY, USA). It is dated 1960 and we acquired it in 1960. Its medium is cotton ground; silk, wool, metallic thread, glass and metal beads and its technique is embroidered. It is a part of the Textiles department.

In this unfinished design, a variety of different embroidery techniques, metallic threads, and beads are used to build complexity and volume.

It is credited Gift of Madame Sabo.
