Vase (USA)

This is a vase. It was produced by Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company and the design director was Louis Comfort Tiffany. It is dated ca. 1900 and we acquired it in 1966. Its medium is mold-blown favrile glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Tiffany patented his well-known iridescent formula for Favrile glass in 1894. This vase was blown into an amphora shape using blue-green Favrile glass. The slightly irregular form – most notable in the oversized neck – and in-stamped vertical chevron pattern of simple leaf forms indicate an early Art Nouveau style.

This object was bequest of Joseph L. Morris. It is credited Bequest of Joseph L. Morris.
