Standing Cup And Lid (Germany)

This is a Standing cup and lid. It was made by Lorenz Tittecke, (German, act. Nuremberg, 1597-1626). It is dated ca. 1620 and we acquired it in 1966. Its medium is parcel-gilt repoussé and chased raised silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Estate of Harry G. Friedman. It is credited Gift of the Estate of Harry G. Friedman.

Its dimensions are

H x diam. (a): 14.1 x 7 cm (5 9/16 x 2 3/4 in.) H x diam. (b): 4.5 x 7.1 cm (1 3/4 x 2 13/16 in.) H x diam. (overall): 18 x 7.1 cm (7 1/16 x 2 13/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On cup rim only: "N" in an oval reserve and "LT" in a rectangular reserve (mark MZ0892a in Nuernberger Goldschmiedekunst, 2007, vol 1 p. 415; part of a mark on foot probably LT in an oval reserve (mark MZ0892b, oM) Ibid, p. 415; no mark on lid
