A sword and a scabbard laid out such that the sword is placed above the scabbard. The sword has a long, curved steel blade with the hilt/handle wrapped with black cord. Beneath the black cord are eight diamond shapes made from pine wood which are known as menuki. Between the hilt/handle and the blade is an oval shaped section known as the tsuba, which is made from silver, gold and shibuichi, which is a Japanese copper alloy. The scabbard is long, curved and striped with a raised end that has a rectangular wooden piece attached to it. A bright red long cord with tassels at the end is attached to the bottom of the scabbard.
