Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Eliza Steelman, American and student at Greenwich School. It is dated 1816 and we acquired it in 1941. Its medium is silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross, tent and satin stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
