Fragments (France)

This is a Fragments. It was company: J.P.Meiller et Cie. and produced by Meillier et Cie. It is dated late 18th–early 19th century and we acquired it in 1996. Its technique is block printed on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

Warp x Weft (a): 31 x 53 cm (12 3/16 x 20 7/8 in.) Warp x Weft (b): 22 x 12 cm (8 11/16 x 4 3/4 in.)

It is inscribed

On front of A, "J.P.Meillier et Cie de Beautiran pres Bordeaux" "D3038" and "OD"in black, within lozenge."JJ" and "16" in black. Indecipherable word followed by 79 in grey. On front of B, "79" amd "Com" in front in black. On back of B, partial mark "Our...(for ourdissage?) de.." within outline in gray. Note: This last mark is probably the same as the gray mark on the front of A.
