Paper Sample Card, Merrimack Prints

This is a Paper sample card. It was manufactured by Merrimack Manufacturing Company. It is dated 1844 and we acquired it in 1996. Its medium is paper, cotton and its technique is discharge print (white) on a dark blue ground. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 63.5 x 41 cm (25 x 16 1/8 in.)

It is inscribed

Card is titled "Merrimack prints" with a picture of a textile manufactory along a river. Underneath the picture handwritted in pencil, "June 7, 1844". Each of the eight fabric samples is numbered but the numbers are not sequential and several are repeated; there are three '2's, three '3's, one '4' and one '6'.
