Oriental Plate

This is a plate. It was manufactured by New Wharf Pottery Co.. It is dated ca. 1878–85 and we acquired it in 1999. Its medium is glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Brooklyn Museum. It is credited Gift of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Paul F. Walter Collection.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 2.5 x 24.2 cm (1 in. x 9 1/2 in.)

It has the following markings

On base, three stamps, all blue underglaze: oval stamp with decorative belt: "TERRE DE FERRE / DÉPÔT / 21 Rue Drouot / EB"; round stamp surrounded by laurel wreath: "N W P Co B / ORIENTAL"; rhomboid stamp: "IV / 14 / 5 Rd V / C"
