Plate (Germany)

This is a plate. It was manufactured by Rosenthal Glas und Porzellan Aktiengesellschaft. It is dated ca. 1930 and we acquired it in 1999. Its medium is glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Victor Wiener. It is credited Gift of Victor Wiener.

A) Bowl of inverted conical form with a thick orange outer shell of polyester resin. The inner surface is glazed turqoise with a cream colored ring seperating the turqoise from the orange outer shell. The orange shell has a gradient from a red-orange to a true orange center and then fades back into the red-orange color. B) An orangle bowl of inverted conical form; this top view reveals the deep inner surface that is glazed turqoise. The inner section of the bowl has a slight sheen while the rim has a matte finish. A cream colored ring seperates the turqoise glaze from the orange resin. C) An orange bowl of inverted conical form in dimmer lighting and shot at a higher angle. The colors of the bowl are a bit darker and there is little light reflecting off the matte orange and turqoise surfaces.
