Sidewall (France)
This is a Sidewall. It was designed by Jean Lurçat and manufactured by Pierre Chareau. It is dated 1923 and we acquired it in 1930. Its medium is block-printed paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
Lurcat designed several papers for French architect and designer Pierre Chareau interiors including this one for the 14th Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1923. While the high contrast colors might appeal to and stimulate a child, the images of tanks and battleships might not seem like appropriate décor for a nursery today.
