St. Thomas or St. Matthew Spoon
This is a spoon. It is dated ca. 1661 and we acquired it in 2006. Its medium is parcel gilt silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Joseph Holtzman and from General Acquisitions Endowment Fund.

It has the following markings
On spoon bowl: Exeter town mark of mid 17th century.
It is inscribed
Later (probably late 18th century) engraved "A. D. H." in Roman block letters on handle near bowl; the back of the bowl with original pricked initials "IF/F" above the date "1661".
