Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was student of Susanna Condy and embroidered by Ann Peartree. It is dated 1734 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk embroidery; paper and linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross, herringbone, unequal herringbone, satin, stem, back, running, double running and chain stitches, couching over paper, detached loop and twist (needle lace), on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
