Sampler (Austria)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Karoline Berger and student at Kunstgewerbeschule. It is dated ca. 1900 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk embroidery on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered in chain, stem, knot, satin over satin, satin over stem, and couching stitches on 7&1 satin foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
