Sampler (Mexico)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Maria Nadeouton. It is dated early 19th century and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk on cotton and its technique is embroidered in satin, back, long-armed cross, knot, stem, double running, cross, and aztec stitch (withdrawn element) on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
