Sampler

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Mary Brown. It is dated 1732 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and linen embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in satin, stem and buttonhole stitches, with cutwork with needle-made loop-and-twist fillings (hollie point), on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
